This short booklet introduces Natural Church Development in an informative and easy reading style in just 28 pages. Christian Schwarz expresses his belief that church growth is important for every Christian and this booklet is for them, raising the possibility of healthy churches experiencing "all by itself" growth. The booklet focuses on the Quality Characteristics and the strategy for improving them in the life of the church. It makes readers feel as if they are talking with the author over a cup of coffee and is recommended as an introduction for survey participants needing a brief overview of NCD.

The NCD Survey by NCD International

The NCD Survey provides a health profile of your church. This profile measures the church's strength in each of the eight Quality Characteristics. It is unique to the church, being based on questionnaires completed by active participants of the congregation. The questionnaires are processed through the Institute for Natural Church Development International's software and standardized against Canadian church norms. The Survey is part of an ongoing process of improving the church's health. To gain maximum impact from the NCD process (understanding and applying the principles), it is recommended that churches do a Survey annually. This enables:

• regular accurate information on the church's strengths and weaknesses
• refining of vision, strategies and goals to maintain momentum
• regular assessment of essential values
• appropriate focusing of resources (addressing the Minimum Factor)
• continuous addressing of NCD principles and practice
• constant progress towards lasting health and growth

Included in the Survey kit: questionnaires for the senior pastor or minister and lay participants, instructions, an ABCs of Natural Church Development, the Quality Growth Cycle process, and results graph. Churches are strongly advised to be coached through the survey process including preparation for the survey, analyzing the results, and preparing an action plan for addressing the findings. Profile Plus Analysis Tool by NCD Australia & NCD International

Profile Plus supplements the NCD Profile and is strongly recommended for all churches as it provides comprehensive diagnostic capability. A church’s surveys over time can be included to identify trends and persistent issues requiring action. Though offered as an option, most churches in Canada consider it essential to the effective diagnosis and long term decision making in their church.
